How do I get rid of termites?

Flick Anticimex: the trusted and effective termite treatment option

Termites are small insects, measuring anywhere between 4mm to 35mm. Considered one of the greatest destructive pests to timber structures and buildings, termites are a very serious and common problem among all Australian properties. Termites devour wood and most cellulose containing materials like cardboard, paper, etc. You will most likely find them causing destruction to the timber frame of homes, but termites are also able to enter houses that do not have a timber structure.

How do I get rid of termites in my home?

A popular question often asked is how can you remove termites from your home, and the answer is that you can control termites only with the help of a professional pest controller. Killing termites is not as simple as a DIY termite treatment for a number of reasons. It’s easy to make matters worse if an inexperienced termite technician attempts at installing a termite management system in your home. Many can argue the effectiveness of do-it-yourself termite treatments, but untrained individuals will not know how to locate the termite nest; how to identify termite entry points; and potentially disturb the termite colony, encouraging the termites to leave and affecting your treatment options.
Flick’s trained termite specialists are accredited to perform effective termite treatments and handle the chemicals used in protecting your home. Our training ensures that your termite problem is nipped from the bud: the termite nest. However, how will you know if there are termites in your home?

Signs you have termites

What are the signs of a termite infestation? The signs vary depending on the level of damage caused and their presence in your home. The basic three signs of a termite infestation include:

  • During breeding season, residents might be able to see a swarm of termites coming out of a specific site
  • There are brown mud tubes on the side of interior/exterior walls, also known as termite mud leads. It’s a tunnel they build to protect themselves from the outside environment. You might also find brown tubes underneath or beside the exterior of your home as they tunnel their way from the ground into your house.
  • The timber structure or even furniture of your home is hollow when you knock on it. There can also be a case of sagging floors where the termite has eaten through the wood of your timber floor.

Flick are a reputable company and know what product works with what vermin. Others seem to use substandard materials that only last a few weeks.

-Peter Kemp, Warwick

My day was an absolute train wreck from the moment my technician walked through the door, from my toddler locking me out, my newborn screaming and my dog breaking his back. My technician remained calmed through this nightmare and completed everything leaving me with one less disaster to worry about.
