No one wants cockroaches in their homes. These dirty little disease-carrying pests are more than a nuisance; they can literally make you sick. Since they are frequently seen in unclean homes, they can also make you seem dirty, even if your housekeeping is immaculate. That is why cockroaches are one of the main pest concerns that people have.
Cockroaches, like any other pest, are drawn to three sources: food, water, and shelter. They thrive in warmer, humid climates, but can be found anywhere. In fact, in arid climates, they may be particularly drawn indoors.
In your home, cockroaches are attracted to water leaks or other damp spots, crumbs left on counters and floors that are not cleaned at night. Dirty dishes left around the house or in your sink, rubbish, pet food and accessible stored food can also attract cockroaches.
Ensure Cockroaches Are Not Entering Through Any Crevice!
Roaches are also really tiny; they can enter your home through small cracks and crevices in your walls, by your windows, or by your doors. They may also crawl through pipes or vents. Cockroaches are also notorious hitchhikers and may be carried into your home in packages or on items.
Sealing up cracks and crevices is the first step to a roach-free home. They can fit through cracks as small as 1.5mm, so you want to make sure everything is sealed.
Check for leaks. Look in your cabinets and around water sources to ensure that there is no dampness. Remember, a leak does not have to be big enough to provide water for a roach. In fact, condensation in humid rooms can be enough water.
Next, you need to make sure your home is very clean. Always clean your kitchen, including washing all dishes, cleaning counters, and cleaning floors each night
Store food in roach-proof containers. Do not forget the pet food! If you have pets, make sure their food is stored at night.
Do not eat in rooms other than your kitchen or dining areas. This rule is because eating inevitably produces crumbs and other food debris. The more rooms used for dining, the more rooms that need to be cleaned every night.
