Our client Arcare Aged Care (Arcare) runs a 5-star network of aged care residences across Australia. Based in Melbourne, they have sites in Victoria, NSW and Queensland. Each site is looked after by an Independent Site Manager but operates according to national guidelines.

Australian owned for more than 40 years, Arcare are well known for their thoughtfully designed living environments, award-winning services and a ‘relationships first’ approach which puts the focus squarely on the individual resident and their needs.

The Challenge

Given their emphasis on quality and cohesion, Arcare were looking to consolidate national pest control and hygiene services by choosing one partner with a proven record of success. They wanted a cost-effective solution across all their sites, nationwide collaboration and a dedicated account manager as a single point of contact with specific customer focus.

As an aged care provider, Arcare must also comply with a number of standards under Australian Federal and State legislation. Any pest control partner would need to be fully accredited and experienced in compliance.

Having previously undertaken ad hoc services at several sites, Flick tendered for the contract. We were able to meet all Arcare’s requirements and entered into a national agreement with them in 2019 to provide both pest management and washroom services.

The Solution

Our extensive experience in the aged care industry means our dedicated account manager and customer service team were able to activate a seamless transition plan for Arcare.

All Flick technicians are comprehensively trained, using documented and traceable methods and procedures which conform to HACCP and GMP standards.

A comprehensive pest management program has been put in place, incorporating pest control and termite inspections/monitoring, washroom services and clinical waste removal. We also respond to any sudden pest infestations across the Arcare sites swiftly.

Monthly pest services for kitchens and food areas have been implemented, as well as quarterly external pest treatments and annual termite inspections. There are also four weekly services for sanitary disposal units and air fresheners.

During the pandemic, Arcare residences also experienced increased production of clinical waste materials. We instituted more frequent removal services, often within a 24 hour notice period.

The Result

Since Flick and Arcare commenced our partnership in 2019, we have developed a strong working relationship. Our dedicated account manager provides a service report after each interaction, including detailed termite reports after each visual inspection. Any recommendations for action are contained in our reports.

Flick’s 24/7 online customer reporting system also allows Arcare to access their records on demand. With a clear service framework in place, they have the peace of mind that they are meeting their compliance obligations and protecting residents from any health threats.
